Keychains And Snowstorms is a limited, exclusive two-track release by Soft Cell, produced in a form of a USB memory stick with a snowstorm key chain.

Recording[edit | edit source]

The two new tracks, “Night And The City (And You)” and “One Last Time”, were recorded in 2018 during the work on retrospective box set release, Keychains And Snowstorms.[1] Dave Ball shared with Marc Almond some of his new music pieces and afterwards Almond wrote the lyrics. At first, new single, Northern Lights / Guilty (Cos I Say You Are), was recorded,[2] then other two tracks. There are no other credits and information regarding their production.

Release[edit | edit source]

First mention of an USB release with exclusive tracks appeared with announcement of Northern Lights / Guilty (Cos I Say You Are) and Keychains And Snowstorms: The Singles compilation on 21 August 2018.[3]

The release was produced as 8 Gb memory sticks, pre-loaded with the tracks and paired with keychains, in 1,000 copies. Initially they were sold strictly at Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye show at O2, London, on September 30th. Later the remaining items could be ordered from Soft Cell's official web stores.[4]

Design[edit | edit source]

The idea behind the look and title of Keychains And Snowstorms goes after the line from “Memorabilia” song. Memory stick is shaped like a metal key and labeled with ‘Soft Cell’ neon sign. Accompanying keychain is a miniature snowstorm with an inserted image of ‘Soft Cell’ neon sign, of slightly different type. Author of design is unknown.
