Marc Almond started his solo career in 1984, when music videos have become an important part of music industry. Several of his first videos were directed by Tim Pope, who previously filmed all videos for Soft Cell, Almond's debut project. Later Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson, of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV and Coil fame, became his frequent video collaborator, with Almond first appearing in Coil's own video for “Tainted Love” in 1985.
