The tour celebrates late 40th anniversary of Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, Soft Cell's debut album released in 1981, and partially promotes duo's new studio album, *Happiness Not Included. It is essentially a continuation of Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret 40th Anniversary tour, preformed in UK the previous year. It is Soft Cell's first North American tour since 2003 Cruelty Without Beauty, and should have take place in the United States and Canada. It was officially announced in May 9th, 2022, shortly after release of aforementioned new album.[1][2]
On August 11 Soft Cell's official Facebook page announced cancellation of show in Toronto, the only concert date in Canada. The reasons remain unknown and were described by duo's management and Marc Almond himself as beyond their control. Those who ordered tickets for that gig were proposed to contact Soft Cell's management to get a pass to nearest occuring show in New York, or get refunds.
On August 22, the day before first concert date, it was announced that Dave Ball will not perform on this tour due to health concerns: in early April of the same year he was in hospital with fractured vertebrae and was strongly adviced by medical team to continue treatment and not leaving for the tour overseas. According to Almond, Ball's condition seemed to be all right prior the tour and he was preparing to it, hoping to be able to perform until the last moment. Instead of him Philip Larsen, producer who closely worked with Soft Cell in recent years and produced new studio album *Happiness Not Included, performed on shows by synthesisers.
Like in previous tour, the sets of the shows were divided in two parts: first includes hits, fan favourites and several new songs, second – all songs from Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, in native order.[2]
